For my altered reality I really wanted to focus on mirrors and and the possibility of there being an altered reality on the other side of the glass. When I think of mirrors, I always think of how you can see some of your deepest fears, or insecurities when you look in at yourself. From this I wanted to play off of mirrors and fear without quite literally having a fear portrayed inside a mirror. This is why I decided to create a dystopia within the mirror, in which people were trapped inside of. Each environment which someone is stuck in is not ideal, yet not overly dramaticisized to leave it up to the viewer to come up with a story to fit the scene. I tried to have the people I photographed show different emotions to give a range of fear, anger, hopelessness, and distress as you go from image to image.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with this assignment, the setup and trying to get the people to realistically act this out made it one of my more fun shoots in a long time.
